Temporary Benefit Enhancements
In order to help reduce the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19), the State and School Employees’ Health Insurance Plan has made the following temporary benefit enhancements:
- Medically necessary diagnostic testing for COVID-19, consistent with Center for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines, is covered with no cost sharing (deductible, copay, coinsurance) to you.
- Medically necessary telemedicine (online provider) visits, including telephone-only services, with network providers are covered at no cost sharing (deductible, copay, coinsurance) to you. Plan participants are encouraged to contact their local network provider to determine if the needed service is available via telemedicine. Participants may also access online provider services 24/7 by contacting AmWell at https://mssehip.Amwell.com/ or call 844.SEE.DOCS (844-733-3627).
- Early refill limitations on most prescription drugs covered by the Plan are relaxed. While regular copays and deductibles still apply, you can refill your medically necessary prescriptions earlier than the norm to ensure you have an adequate supply on hand in the event you are subsequently unable to visit your pharmacy again within the usual 30 days.
These temporary enhancements are intended to help ensure our Plan participants get the care and medications they need without further exposing themselves and/or their providers to the risk of contracting or spreading the virus. These changes have been implemented based on guidance and recommendations from federal and State authorities, and will remain in effect unless otherwise revised until June 30, 2020.
